What You Can Expect from Active Life During the Pandemic

We understand the concern about the current COVID-19 pandemic from all residents and families. As such, we are committed to providing the highest level of care by adhering to safety standards within our industry and recommendations from leading healthcare and government agencies in the U.S.
Below is an overview of what we are doing to keep our residents safe during the pandemic. Our current policies and practices have been carefully developed and peer-reviewed to ensure that we eliminate the spread of the virus on our grounds and facilities. Please read through the information below. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us. We are happy to answer your questions and address your concerns about you or your loved one’s health and safety.
Transportation Services
Clean and sanitary transportation is essential to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to and from all destinations. Here’s how we keep our vans and other vehicles sanitized.
Prior to Patient Pickup
- All vans are fogged with a disinfectant spray every morning before pickup.
- All vans are lined with a transparent plastic divider that separates the driver from the passengers.
- All drivers are required to wear approved masks, protective shields, and gloves.
- All patients are seated one person per bench in every other row (3 passengers per van).
- All patients receive a health questionnaire and temperature check before boarding the van.
Arriving at the Day Care Facility
- All patients receive a health questionnaire and temperature check when arriving at the day care center.
- All patients receive a UV light screening.
- All patients are required to wear masks except during meals or eating snacks.
- All patients must follow social distancing guidelines throughout the day.
Day Care Facilities
Due to the nature of senior care facilities, patients are at risk of being affected by COVID-19. We have incorporated an infection prevention and control program that protects all patients and healthcare staff in response to the pandemic.
As a starting point, we installed an industrial-level central filtration system to purify the air and remove 99.9% of all viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens. The entire center is also fogged with a disinfectant twice a day. We have also taken the following actions:
Staff and Patients
- The entire center is fogged with a disinfectant twice a day.
- The staff cleans and disinfects all surfaces once every hour.
- Patients are required to remain six feet apart at all times under social distancing guidelines.
- Patients are divided into small groups during activities.
- All staff receives temperature checks each morning.
- All temperatures are recorded and logged.
Meals and Snacks
- Meals and snacks are pre-sorted into sealed, individually wrapped plastic containers.
- All utensils are individually wrapped.
- All liquids are poured individually at each table during meals.
At this time, we have prohibited visitors of any kind from entering the grounds or facilities. This includes friends and family. Visitation increases the threat of spreading COVID-19 to or from the care center.
Training and Policies
We receive COVID-19 information and updates regularly. As we gain new knowledge of the pandemic, we pass it on to staff, patients, and families, as needed. We also provide extensive training and resources to our entire staff to eliminate the spread of COVID-19 in our day care center. Each person on the Active Life team is dedicated to practicing and enforcing all guidelines.
We implement sick-leave policies that are non-punitive, flexible, and consistent with the most current public health policies. We also carefully choose and monitor the staff that can have contact with the patients. We provide hygiene supplies and personal protective equipment that inhibits the spread of COVID-19. All staff is expected to adhere strictly to all policies without exception.
Thank You for Your Cooperation
At Active Life, we understand the frustration you may feel about the changes we have made to stop the spread of the pandemic. We want you to know that we have put all policies and procedures into place due to our genuine care for all patients and staff. By working together, we can all stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
